Our
speaker is the founder and president of DEFENSEWORKS, a national training
organization specializing in addressing personal protection issues and he
is the only Systema - Russian Martial Art instructor certified by Vladimir
Vasiliev in the Milwaukee area.
Mr. Manko began studying martial arts in 1973. His journey has led him
to obtain experience in Police Defensive Tactics, Aikido, Tae Kwon Do, Fencing,
Boxing, Chin-Na, Tai Chi Chuan, Aiki-Jitsu, Chinese Kempo, Ryu Kyu Kempo,
Kyusho-Jitsu, Combat Hapkido and Systema. He combines this knowledge with
an academic background consisting of an Associate Degree in Police Science,
a Bachelors' Degree in Criminal Justice and a Masters' Degree in Public Administration
to produce a solid reality based approach to speaking and training. In other
words, teaching the stuff that works.
Mr. Manko was published in the June 2003 issue of Black Belt Magazine, the world's leading magazine on self-defense, the fall 2003 issue of Self-Defense for Women Magazine and @LAW, a magazine for legal professionals. We are fortunate to have him here today to discuss his insights on how to prevent violence.
Please give a warm welcome to Wesley Manko.
