Systema - Russian Martial Art
(This is not your child's martial art)
Systema, or "The System,"
dates back to the 10th century when Russian warriors acquired a fighting style
that combined strong spirit with extremely innovative and versatile tactics
that were at the same time practical, deadly and effective against any type
of enemy under any circumstances. This method is currently being employed
by the SPETSNAZ (Russian Special Forces) where it has been proven to work
in combat situations.
Systema believes that the martial art should conform to the student. That's
why training in Systema helps heighten awareness, increase knowledge of body
dynamics and emphasizes natural movement over choreographed fighting sequences.
Classes combine Russian health exercises for emotional and physical fitness
with defensive maneuvers that teach the body to spontaneously discover the
solutions to a variety of attacks that occur in the modern world.
The key principle of the Russian System is non-destruction. The goal is to
make sure that your training and your attitudes do no damage to the body or
to the psyche of you and your partners. The System is designed to create,
build and strengthen your body, your psyche, your family and your country.
Training in the System allows you to gain the true strength of spirit that
comes from humility and clarity in seeing the purpose of our life.
One of Mikhail Ryabko's words to beginners is "Be a good person and everything
will come to you." In a simple, yet comprehensive, way the System helps you
choose and follow the right path.
Wesley Manko is the only certified person by
Vladimir Vasiliev, the North American Director, to teach Systema in the Milwaukee

FROM STUDENTS
"I started other martial arts training when I was 5 and am currently 23
years of age. Over this time, I have trained in over 15 styles (Aikido,
Judo, Jujitsu, Jeet Kune Do, Excrima, Pencak Silat, Muy Thai, etc.). Of
all the styles that I have trained in, I believe that Russian Martial Art
is the most remarkable one."

shocked me. He is calm, relaxed and smiling but his skill and way of teaching
are incredible."
